HISTORY OF EACF
Esan association of Central Florida, USA (Esancenflousa) was founded in January 2011 as a non-profit organization.
The vision to form the association was conceived by an Esan woman (Evang. Philomena Orbisi). From that very time
to this day, Evang. Philomena Orbisi saw the culture and tradition of the Esan people as a Gold mine worthy of
preservation from generation to generation. This solo reflection of her beliefs got a buy-in from her husband (Mr.
Raymond Orbisi) without much convincing because his reverence and beliefs of the Esan people and their culture
equilibrates that of his wife. The attainment of this state of equilibrium of vision and reverence for the Esan people’s
culture by this great couple gave birth to what will eventually be known as Esan Association of Central Florida, USA.
Their vision was to bring together the Esan people of Central Florida to discuss ideas of mutual reverence and
importance and to find a way of rallying the Esan people of Central Florida around this common purpose. This mere
conversation between these dynamic duos took a dynamic turn for the better. To achieve their vision, the couple
reached out to majority of the Esan people of Central Florida who heeded their clarion call. The gathering of these
like-minded people of Esan land quickly metamorphosed into an organization now known as the Esan Association of
Central Florida, USA. The initial members made it a priority to constantly reach out to other Esan indigenes, to create
awareness around the association’s mission and objectives.
The organizational momentum engendered a democratic arrangement of governance and people of stature were
elected to lead the association and Mr. Raymond Orbisi became the first elected President of the association upon
the creation of the first executive council. Other members of the first EXCO included George Ojie-Ahamiojie as
Secretary, Gabriel Emuan as Financial Secretary/Treasurer and Ehimen Sedenu as Public Relations Officer (PRO).
To ensure continuity and preservation of the binding principles and culture of the Esan people of this association, a
constitutional drafting committee was selected by the EXCO to put together a document detailing the mission,
objectives, rules and regulations that will govern the conduct of every member upon joining the association. This
document is now known as the Esan Association of Central Florida’s Constitution which was recently amended in
2019.
